Have you ever met someone for the first time and known they were going to change your life? I am so excited to introduce y’all to the woman who helped me get back to work after my son Finn was born — and who became one of my closest friends here in Munich. Her name is Lauren Taylor and she’s now the owner and founder of Sweet Smiling Soul.
How I got to know to Lauren
I met Lauren when I was looking for a nanny and I knew, from the second Lauren stepped across my threshold, that we had a connection. She was the best nanny, but she also became a friend and a fellow business owner. When she first started working with me, Lauren had no idea she was going to own her own business… but I just KNEW it, and I did everything in my power to make that happen (including giving her my laptop when she left Munich).
When she left Munich after about a year of working with me and my family, I was sad for me and overjoyed for her. Because I knew she was going to start a business and be this truly amazing mentor for women. She just didn’t know it yet! Cut to today, Lauren is in my Greatness Mastermind, she’s sold out her first program, and she’s now working as a soul mentor for women.
Lauren’s path — just like many of yours — has transformed, and she’s built confidence enough to build (and SELL OUT!) her first program. How did she do it? Showing up as her greatest self, of course!
Leaning into her sweet, smiling self
What I love most about Lauren is that she’s invested in her own growth, her own practices for years. She traveled to Nepal to receive her yoga certification, she’s studied different spiritual and “woo” practices, and she’s even sold her own handcrafted products. Basically, Lauren has all this experience exploring her own inner wisdom and following her own curiosity, that now she’s so equipped to sit down and help women find clarity and get closer to meeting their true, authentic self.
So, naturally I was thrilled when Lauren decided to become a mentor to women. Like most businesses, it didn’t start out like a total raving success. When she finally decided to lean into the Sweet, Smiling Self business, it started out with her mostly flying under the radar. She was terrified of getting on video, showing that sweet smile of hers (ironic, right?), and of really putting herself out there. Who can relate?
To make sure she had what she needed to actually put herself out there. She focused on ideating and brainstorming so she knows what to share and has a plan. Now, she has almost too many ideas, but she’s present on social and her videos are so good, you guys!
Over time, though, Lauren recognized that a lot of her ideas could be shared in a more condensed, deeper form: in her first course!
Creating her first program
Lauren describes her first course as a 4-week group experience self-certification — and the name is so good, y’all: “More Than Worthy.” She put this course out there and guess what? It sold out. Why? Because she had spent so much time building up her brand and audience on social, really sharing her ideas and her messages, and listening to what resonated with her people. That’s where “More Than Worthy” came from, and it met her audience exactly where they were.
Do you struggle to show up on social? Have you ever thought, “I don’t know what to say or what to share?” or “Nobody wants to see my face!” — take a lesson from Lauren. She did it, she showed up. And now she has a sold-out offer and a thriving business. That’s a true testament to showing up as your sweet, smiling self!
Making space to meet new people
The biggest takeaway from my relationship with Lauren is, well, relationships. If you’re not opening yourself up to new people entering your life (physically or online), if you’re not investing in programs that support you and push you, you won’t ever truly realize your potential. The reality is: People outside of us are often more capable of seeing our potential than we are. People who care for us and our goals are more likely to hold us accountable and keep us moving forward.
So surround yourself with amazing women. Go out there and make connections. Don’t be afraid to say hello to someone new. They might just change your life – and your business!
