Siobhan Christman recently joined me for a deep conversation about turning devastation into her dream life. Most of us can relate to this story, I think, where we suffer some massive loss — whether it’s personal or professional — and we think our lives are just over. But over time, we often find that’s just not the case. And there’s so much growth on the other side of that. That’s exactly what Siobhan experienced, and it’s what she shared with me in-depth during our chat.
Meet Siobhan
Siobhan is a Mindset and Performance Coach who teaches women how to reframe their mindset, step into their confidence, and achieve their goals. After 15 years in sales development (at Tesla at all places), she went out on an adventure to make an impact in the lives of strangers, with the goal to witness how small actions can make a big impact with other people.
When the world shut down due to the global pandemic, Siobhan shifted her focus from big impact outside of herself, to a big impact within. Now her goal is to teach others the small actions they can take to make big results for themselves, which in turn will ripple out to others. So good, right?
A year of transformation
After taking a sucker punch with her big transition from a senior sales position, Siobhan decided to travel the world for a year — alone! — so she could meet strangers and create connections. She took that energy, when she could’ve been really down about the lost opportunities, and turned it outward. Having conversations with all those people, she would inevitably end up learning so much about their lives, their experiences, their wishes… and almost coaching them.
It filled up Siobhan’s “bucket,” so to speak, to make those connections and to be a monumental stopping point on these people’s journeys. She knew the ripple effect would lead them to bring that same energy, attention, and care into others’ lives, as well.
After a year of meeting hundreds of people, going on adventures, and exploring the unknown, Siobhan realized that the life she actually impacted was her own. By focusing on creating the best first impression, she had inadvertently developed positive habits on mindset, choices, and taking inspired action. These keystone habits cast a ripple effect that spread out to all areas of her life and continued to travel to the people around her.
This also rippled out (there’s that word again) and led Siobhan to recognize how a small action can impact the lives of so many. It was the response of those strangers she met on her travels and in her efforts to make connections that inspired her to, well, make connections a career.
That led her to found Hello Stranger.
Oh, hello stranger!
Using all of her sales experience from that previous job as a framework, Siobhan founded Hello Stranger, and essentially created tangible steps that would help others find their momentum mindset. Now, she helps people clarify what they want, and provides them with the roadmap to get them there. The best way to describe her work is “the ripple effect,” because she coaches people on how to change their mindset, their actions, and their daily activities or behaviors to make an impact on others.
She works with team leaders, entrepreneurs and business owners, and those awesome humans who just want to make more of an impact in the world. And, through Hello Stranger, Siobhan will introduce those people to the techniques they can set in motion to really cause ripples.
Do you see how it’s all connected? How our transformations and losses lead to bigger things… and are a necessary part of how we got here? Those things we are drawn to, the things we draw out in others — that’s our magic! Our superpower.
I know it might feel messy, or heartbreaking, or discouraging, but all your experiences are getting you one step closer to where you want to go. That first event kickstarts that ripple effect we heard so much from Siobhan about during our chat.
