I have chosen to bring my branding agency out of retirement. Off the bench. I’m bringing it back, ya’ll. If you’ve been following me, my journey, or even been listening to all the episodes of Brave New You, this might come as a shock.
I love getting into a brand, getting under the hood, and creating the blueprint for a brand that makes you want to shout it from a rooftop. I used to work with my amazing designer to actually help bring these brands to life, to really launch my clients’ brands into the internet… but I put that all on hold about two years ago. And today, I’m letting you know: I’m bringing it back.
Why I left the agency on the shelf for two years
Honestly, managing a branding agency is hard work. Between the phone calls, managing my design partner’s amazing creations, and generally pushing out multiple brands a year, the original agency I ran was just… too much. Added to that, my son Finn was still very young and was home with me all the time, so it was hard to hop on the computer to get things done. My old business partner and I also decided to sell our business, so that was another big shift. There was too much going on, and I just felt like the agency was no longer serving people the way I wanted to serve people.
I needed space to lean in and redesign my business model.
Also I knew I didn’t have the structure or the support to help me manage the old agency I had created — I was constantly in a state of burnout and I knew that it wasn’t going to get better. I loved every client I created a brand for, and I am still close to them today. But I was on a journey to step into my greatness, so I shut the doors to the agency.
What brought me back
That was two years ago. Since then, I have created a mastermind, a course, and offered 1:1 greatness coaching and branding intensives. I’ve worked so closely with women to bring what makes them shine to the surface, and show them they can use what makes them unique to grow their businesses. And it’s been amazing. I’ve loved every minute of it.
And then… I was ready for more.
Recently, I was on a call with my Greatness Mastermind. We were working through shifts in businesses, breakthroughs, and transformations, and women inside the group realized that their current branding just wasn’t reflecting who they have become or what they want to do in the world.
It was through this shift in my mastermind ladies that I felt something shift in myself. I wanted to see them through that rebrand, to guide them through that journey, and to really help them bring this best version of themselves and their business to life.
Like before, but better
I realized that creating an agency was the next step in my evolution… but could I go back? After thinking about it, I realized it wouldn’t be going back so much as coming home. And I’d be bringing my much wiser self to the table.
So I imagined what a new agency model could look like — one that feels more aligned, more attuned to my focus on helping women find their greatness. One that puts my genius at the forefront, and puts design and execution and launch and all of that as the “cherry on top,” so to speak.
Basically, I still get to work with amazing women who are brave and bold and help them highlight the best parts of them and their business. I still get to coach them into seeing their value and what makes their brand truly unique. That is all “baked in” to the agency process now, along with all the visual assets most people associate with branding.
The truth is, though: I would not have this version of the Brave Brand Agency if I didn’t put it on the shelf for two years.
I did a lot of work on myself, my offers, and what I wanted my business to look like before I came back to the agency… and now I see it in a whole new light.
Why am I telling you all this? Because you can create that space for yourself, too. If one of your own offers is running you ragged, hang it up. Give it a break. Step away from the offer! We need space to breathe and let other ideas come to the forefront. I’m living proof! I also want you to know that it’s totally OK to go back to that offer, reassess it, and use it again.
Sometimes, if it’s right, it feels like coming home.
