Being an Expat living abroad, far away from my family and friends, I am always on the lookout for the best ways to stay connected with others. I’ve used the “walkie talkie” style voice chat app, Voxer for years with friends but I began implementing it as a business tool last year, which has been a total game changer for me. The number one way it is helping me is by giving me that extra layer of real-time support and accountability and I am a firm believer that when you have those two things in place, that your business can and will grow.
Also, I just want to add that Voxer is free and this is NOT a sponsored post, it really is just a really awesome tool that I think a lot of people still don’t know about or if they are using it, they aren’t using it for their business.
Here are 3 ways I’m Using Voxer to help grow my business!
1. With your Biz Besties
I started connecting with my biz besties and encouraging them to jump on Voxer with me so we could have long Voxer chats about business instead of spending so much time typing out texts or emails to each other, and let’s be real, the conversations get a whole lot better once they’re actually through voice and not text. I also use this as a way to encourage each other and hold each other accountable. There’s nothing like waking up to an encouraging message from someone who knows you are losing sleep over how your next launch is going down.
2. With your Mastermind
My mastermind group and I have a group chat on Voxer and this is where we can hold each other accountable and get support on the days in between having our official mastermind calls. This is awesome for having a question or needing guidance while working through something in real time and having three or four other people be able to weigh in at a moments notice. It has definitely beefed up our level of commitment & support with each other.
3. With your 1:1 Clients
I have hired a business mentor who used Voxer with me and I loved the idea so much that I started implementing it with my own 1:1 coaching clients. This allows me to give an extra level of support and help my clients work through problems in real time vs having them always wait until our next call to bring it up. Some things may no longer be relevant by then. Just last week I helped a client work through writing an email to a group of brides she had connected with at a bridal show. It took five minutes of my time and helped give her be able to hit send with confidence. I love being able to be there and give support when it is truly needed.
**just a disclaimer for those of you who are thinking, whoah she doesn’t have boundaries in her business. Yes, I totally do! However, I do set the expectation up front and am totally happy using it as long as it’s not being abused. I also only offer this for my 1:1 Business Immersion clients which I take a very limited number at a time. I definitely wouldn’t advise a wedding planner to offer this with all of your planning clients, but maybe this could be an added feature for your full planning brides?
Pro Tip: Are you still holding down the button to talk? Talk hands-free by clicking the toggle wheel at the top, select “more options”, then turn on “tap to talk”. You’re welcome. 🙂
Hey, don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what a few of my Biz Besties have to say about how they use Voxer and how it has helped change their business:
“Business moves at the speed of relationships and in the online business space, Voxer helps me accomplish that. With this tool, I can better understand my client’s personality, their needs, and document any upcoming tasks that are on their mind. As a project manager, it’s vital to staying connected to projects and teams.”
Pro tip: If a client sends me a Voxer with an action item for me, I “favorite” it so I can refer back to it later. I do this at the end of every day.
– Natalie Gingrich, Project Manager
“I love using Voxer for my small business because sometimes you just need to talk out an idea. It’s a super easy, on-the-go way to get those ideas out of your head and get some feedback from your biz friends vs. taking the time to write an email. As an HR consultant for Creative Entrepreneurs, I also encourage my clients to utilize Voxer to help with team communication.”
-Ashley Cox, sprout HR
” I love using Voxer to help nurture relationships and making better use of the time with my mastermind group. It’s a great way to stay connected in between calls when you need help with something right then. Plus, no one wants to type out 5 minutes worth of conversation when you can literally just talk with that person.”
-Jessica Freeman, Jess Creatives
“My favorite aspect of using Voxer is that I can multitask so easily with it. I can bounce ideas off of my business friends or map out a strategy plan with my business partner while waiting to pick up my kid from the bus stop.”
-Kristin Kaplan, KristinKaplan.com & Wedding Business Bosses
“I love using Voxer to help me maintain relationships I have made with biz friends, it’s so much better and a lot easier to use instead of being in my inbox all day.”
Oh, and one last thing, I only use the FREE version of Voxer & find that it does the job for me. I actually have no idea what I am missing out on by not having Voxer Pro. If you have it, please enlighten me.
