Do you have an offer or product that you want to get out into the world… and immediately pull back when you think about “launching” it?
Do you wonder why your launches aren’t totally selling out your products or booking you out for two years?
My friend, it’s probably because you need a launch strategy. I know that launches can be overwhelming (I’ve done them a time or two myself), and I know that having expert help is best for those of us who are visionaries, dreamers, and who maybe haven’t learned the technical or strategist side of launching.
So, I brought in an expert! Her name is Andrea Longcrier, and she was nice enough to chat with me on a recent episode of Brave New You.
Meet Andrea, Launch Strategist and Ex-pat
Andrea Longcrier is a launch strategist who helps coaches and creatives launch their courses and programs with ease, so they can finally get their heart’s work out into the world. She’s also a beautiful example of what it means to evolve in your skills and business — she started out as a VA and slowly learned everything that was involved in launches, and began offering her launch strategy services. You can uplevel, my friend. Andrea is proof.
The other thing that I just love about Andrea is how she breaks down the launch runway and shows creatives very clearly what they need to make it a success. The biggest thing she shared with me is that a launch and a promotion are two very different things.
People don’t just find your sales page — you have to tell people about it. Instead of just promoting it a couple of times with a social post and maybe an email, you’ll need to generate excitement. To do that, Andrea says to treat it like a party.
How to Treat Your Launch Like a Party (Because It Is a Party!)
Think about your launch as an event — a big hurrah for your 30th, 40th, 50th birthday. You’re building up the excitement, you’re talking to people about what to expect and how awesome it’s gonna be, and then the day of the event arrives. And everyone is SO excited, they can’t wait to arrive. That’s a launch.
Of course, doing something is better than nothing, so I don’t want you to get super overwhelmed thinking about #allthethings that go into a launch. But I do want you to think about how you can really generate excitement and build a runway that helps people get excited about your new product or offer before doors open. How do you do that? By following Andrea’s tips below!
The 3 Things You Need for an Effective Launch Strategy
Andrea broke down the three things that can help you make any launch a party:
- A solid offer that solves a problem. Is your new course, product, or service aligned with your audience? Do they need or want it? If so, tell them and show them!
- Consistency. Are you showing up and showing your audience what you provide? Are you listening to what they have to say, and having conversations that build trust?
- Believe in yourself. This might be the hardest element of your launch strategy, but it’s one of the most important. Because when you believe that you can sell your product or offer, you do. You act from a place of confidence, and your audience responds!
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by your launch, or even underqualified to bring your magic to market, give yourself permission to show up. To feel good about it. To let what makes you different and your offers different shine. When you show up confidently with an amazing offer, and you have a launch strategy that helps you build hype for the party, you’ll be amazed at the results.
How to Actually Create a Launch Strategy
A final note for your launch strategy: There’s no right or wrong way to launch. Andrea says that many entrepreneurs and online business owners think they or their offer are a failure because nobody bought during their launch. The truth is, your launch may not have seen the number of sales you were hoping for because your runway wasn’t long enough.
Did you know? It takes 69 days (give or take) to put together a launch. Yep, 69.
You need a pre-launch phase, where you’re building your list, building excitement, having the right conversations. You need to also be gaining traction, and getting people to show interest. Then you need to actually promote your offer in multiple ways, for multiple days. This is usually where people freeze up, because they worry they’ll annoy people, they’ll sound weird promoting their stuff, or they just don’t know if they can sell things.
The truth is: We are all afraid of launching. Every client Andrea has ever worked with is afraid of launching. Fear evolves, though, and you can overcome this one, too. If you want help overcoming your fear and actually creating a launch strategy that works for you, Andrea has an awesome resource I want to share with you:
